Easter Is Right Around the Corner
Some people hear the word "Easter" and right away think of candy, bunnies and flowers. Sure, I like Easter baskets too. Such things are nice, but only for a short while. But God's real gift at Easter is present now and perfect forever.
God places some truly wonderful gifts in His "Easter Basket" for us.
First.... God gives us the gift of eternal life. We are all here for a fairly short time. (Compared to eternity, what is seventy years? That's the average lifetime of most Americans today.) But God's Easter gift of eternal life will not fade and cannot be taken away.
Next.... He sets in your heart the gift of real peace--His peace. The worry and troubles you so often hear about on the 6 o'clock news are nothing compared to the news that God can give us his Peace forever, as we live with Him.
And to these first tow gifts, God now adds eternal Joy. Some things do entertain you, at least for a while. But just like those Easter flowers, they will eventually wilt away. But the Joy of Easter is permanent. Jesus' victory at over death guarantees that His Joy will always be there for you.
So this year I invite you to really celebrate Easter. If this is the first time you realize what Easter really is, then Happy Easter to you! Easter is right around the corner --the most joyful time of year."
